Not a Prince Song.

Sorry, guys, I was going to put up some inappropriate Prince song, but ran across this Public Image Ltd. song, Careering, off "Metal Box," instead, and could not resist. Metal box is a three album set released in what appeared to be a metal film canister, recorded at 45 RPM. Needless to say, I love it. Check out Jah Wobble's immense base line.

Here's John Lydon and Keith Levene (PIL's guitarists) on a talk show insisting that PIL is not, actually, a band, and they certainly don't play rock and roll. "They play rock and roll at airports." "A bunch of gits on stage."

Poor blokes, they learned to play the rock n' roll game, and now they hate it! Why not be honest about it and get a job sweeping, or trimming trees. Credit where credit is due, John Lydon did go on to host a program about insects for the BBC, and managed to do so without condescending to bugs.

God, I love Prince. "Purple Rain" was a major part of my sexual awakening. Actually, it might have been Prince that initiated me into proclivities for androgyny. Post something by him soon, pretty please!

I guess I am the only living PIL fan, shucks. Prince it is, as long as I can pretend, Chandelle, that you're an adoring fan. Of someone.

Rereading my post in reply to Chandelle, I think I completely scrambled all of the words. English is, after all my first language. Oh, drat.

Anyway, Let me try again. Prince it is! Assuming his evil lawyers have not take down all possible posts.

Frank Zappa on the Steve Allen Show

Quimby! My friend! Someone who understands tha hilarity of this interview. Plus, thanks for the Frank Zappa link. When are you planning on visiting Portland?

Steve Allen had a lot more to work with, that is, a guest who was interested in sharing something with his host and the audience. Zappa was cheerful, pleasant and fun. Lydon was a hateful ass. He referred to his audience as "idiots" and "senile animals" and then talked complete rot about being "completely honest" with his audience in concert. Pretty clear who the git on the stage was!

Incidentally my whole family thought the interview was a scream. But they were laughing at how much of a has-been loser Lydon came off as.
